Thank you so much for this, Charlotte! I’ll always remember getting to see Ekta Kaul with you! And that bookbinding riff on jazz. What you say here is so true, I like an adventure and all of the potential wonder of it, but I love coming home. Hugs to Chip, too. He’s got his person back and I bet he’s so happy!

That was such a special morning! It was fantastic. Chip was happy to see me but also very cat-like the first couple of days, snubbing me. We're back to where we started now, though!

Read, enjoyed, and shared...as always. ;-) Your column was ringing true a little extra this week since my girl Eryn is back from her big Quebec City adventure. Preparing for and going on a trip can be fun, but I think the fun is rooted in the fact that you have the safety and comfort of home waiting for your return.

I'm so glad she got to go...and come home again. And totally agree, it's so good to have the safety and comfort of home awaiting. I hope Eryn had a fabulous time!

She had a blast, and it was quality time with her granny. Eryn used an app on her phone to calculate the time it would take to walk to a church she wanted to visit: 8 minutes. THIRTY minutes later they were still walking. Uh, yeah: she had it set to car mode. Eight-minute DRIVE. ;-)

That's hilarious. I always have to check myself when I'm looking up distances--is it by car or on foot? Came in really handy in London, though.

Charlotte, Love this: "Roots hold me close, wings set me free." But honestly, I haven't traveled for eons and probably won't for eons to come. At this point in my life, inner travel is my thing.
