Happy July! Happy Summer!

I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling the pull of long, lazy summer days. There’s something so lovely about eating lunch outside (despite the damn yellow jackets hovering around my food) and taking a few more breaks than usual.

But that doesn’t mean I’m not writing. I’m enthusiastic about my current WIP and I love the time I spend in the early morning writing it. I’m at the point now where I’ve built up enough momentum that the work flows easily. And I’m able to surmount the inevitable obstacles that arise.

When they do arise, prompts are a great workaround. And I’ve got thirty-one of them for you below! Every few months, I publish the primer on using prompts, as I did last month. In case you need a refresher, you can read that here.

And remember, paid subscribers get a handy PDF of the prompts to print.

Let’s get right to it.

The Prompts

1.

Jumping Jupiter

2.

The sound of the air conditioner was her constant companion.

3.

What if it never happens?

4.

Write about that time you didn’t and you wished you had.

5.

But maybe it will.

6.

Could you say that again?

7.

If only there could be pie every day.

8.

The twinkling lights made her nervous.

9.

And you really believe that?

10.

But of course you can.

11.

Write about that childhood room that scared you.

12.

The thirst.

13.

What a waste.

14.

Let’s just keep going.

15.

Soft kitty, warm kitty….

16.

Down by the bay.

17.

Silver or gold?

18.

The house looked neglected, ready to fall down.

19.

Pounce.

20.

But what if it is true?

21.

Oh no you don’t.

22.

The tarot reader turned over a card and then looked up in terror.

23.

Look what I did!

24.

The work was hard and took forever.

25.

Sometimes you don’t recognize beginnings until later, much later.

26.

But I really did mean it!

27.

I’m not an idiot, you know.

28.

Fourth grade. Write about it.

29.

Any fool could do that.

30.

How can you be sure?

31.

It’s finally over.

There you go, have at it! And paid subscribers, your prompts are below the paywall.
